What Your Employees Really Want for the Holidays

The holidays are an opportunity for employers to show their employees how much they appreciate their hard work year after year and what shows they are better than a gift? There are many gift guides for employees that offer ideas on how to recruit employees, but they often do not include what employees really want.

Fortunately, we have data that reveals what employees would really like for the holidays. While the results are not necessarily surprising, they can help employers provide a gift that boosts employee morale and spreads the joy of living. Forget the knick-knacks and tchotchkes for the decor of the offices (although these are also interesting) - here's what the employees really want for the holidays.

1 A holiday bonus check

It is therefore not surprising that many employees really want a holiday bonus. While this may not seem like the most personal or thoughtful gift, you can be sure that your employees consider it to be very meaningful. At a time when nearly 80% of employers offer a holiday bonus, many employees may even expect it. If you do not offer a holiday bonus, other gifts may not meet the expectations of employees. After all, what's better than making a little cash? If you can afford to reduce the bonus checks of your employees this year, they will certainly appreciate it. [Looking for more gift ideas? 2 Additional paid leave

It's no secret that many employees like to save their holidays for the holiday season when their family travels for holidays or to see distant relatives. In a survey conducted by Randstad in 2017 among workers, 70% of respondents confirmed that their highest priority was to take time off during the holiday season and 62% of respondents planned to submit technical assistance requests. . Unfortunately, 52% of the respondents also noted that their company did not grant them any additional holiday leave, thus leaving their wish to spend more days of vacation. If you want to give your employees a gift they will not forget and maybe not even expect, consider organizing a few days of non-binding PTO.

3 A company party

Business holiday parties may not seem like the most important part of the holiday season, but research shows that they have a huge impact on employee morale. In a 2017 BizBash survey, 7 out of 10 subjects said office parties were important to boost morale. Corporate parties are a great way to bring the team together in a more informal setting. If you really want to make an extra effort, consider renting a site so that your employees can enjoy a party away from the workplace. If you think a little team spirit is needed, a company party is a great opportunity to organize a secret Santa so that your employees can also express some appreciation to their colleagues.

4 Contribute to the public good

Today's employees, especially Generation Y employees, want to work for a socially responsible employer. While this is a continuing effort requiring ethical processes and careful planning, it does not hurt to strengthen your good faith as a caring organization during the holiday season. There are several ways to do this, including organizing donations or volunteering opportunities within your organization. Volunteering or donating to a good cause is not only a positive thing to do, it also increases employee satisfaction and builds team cohesion, as employees and employers must come together to achieve common purpose other than their job description.

5 A handwritten and personalized thank-you card

"It's the thought that counts" sounds right when we recognize the hard work and sacrifices of your employees. A personalized hand-written map of an officer or employer can help employees feel respected and honored within the company. It's easy, especially in large organizations, for employees to feel like a number, more as an asset than as a human being. Showing them that you recognize their personal efforts and individuality is a simple but powerful way to thank
